Gift Guide: What to Buy a Designer Toy Collector (2026)

by LABUBUBOX Editorial

Your friend collects designer toys. You have no idea what to buy them. This guide will save you from the two worst gift mistakes: buying a duplicate they already have, or buying a counterfeit.

Designer toy gift ideas
The safest gift for a collector is something they would never buy themselves.

The Safe Bets (Can't Go Wrong)

  1. A full sealed case ($155-192). 12 blind boxes in one case. They get most of the series plus trading material. No risk of duplicating what they have because it is a complete set.
  2. An independent brand they don't know yet. Collectors love discovering new IPs. Labubu Box plush is perfect for this — unique designs they won't already own.
  3. A display case ($50-150). IKEA Detolf ($70) is the collector standard. Acrylic risers ($15-30) are also great. Every collector needs more display space.
  4. A UV flashlight ($12). Used for authentication. Every serious collector wants one but never buys it for themselves.

What NOT to Buy

  • Individual blind boxes from Amazon. High counterfeit risk due to commingled inventory. If you must buy online, use the Pop Mart app or official website.
  • A specific figure they mentioned wanting. Unless you can verify it is authentic, the risk of buying a fake is too high. Stick to sealed retail products.
  • "Mystery" bundles from TikTok Shop. These are almost always overstock or fakes repackaged as deals.
